To apply for a driving license in Nepal, you must be at least 16 years old for a two-wheeler without gears and 18 years old for other vehicle types. You also need to pass a written and practical test.
The fee for a new driving license varies depending on the vehicle category. Typically, the cost ranges from NPR 500 to NPR 1500, including the application and card issuance fees.
You can prepare for the written test by studying the Nepal traffic rules booklet provided by the Department of Transport Management. Online resources and mock tests are also helpful.
Some key traffic rules include driving on the left-hand side, wearing a seatbelt or helmet, obeying speed limits, and stopping at red lights. Always carry your driving license and vehicle documents.
If you fail the written or practical test, you can retake it after a specified period. The reattempt fee is usually lower than the initial application fee.
